Un timide étudiant américain d’origine pakistanaise, Naz (Riz Ahmed) emprunte le taxi de son père pour aller à une fête. Une mystérieuse jeune femme monte et lui demande de la déposer chez elle. Elle invite Naz à monter et après une nuit de drogue et de passion le jeune homme s’endort. Le lendemain matin, il se réveille et la jeune femme a été assassinée dans son lit.
