Dr Seth Ember ( Aaron Lockhart) is approached by a representative from the Vatican, Camilla (Catalina Sandino Morano) who asks him to exorcise a young boy, Cameron Sparrow (David Mazouz). Dr Ember refuses until Camilla informs him the demon is named Maggie.

Ember does not practise exorcism but enters the world of dreams of the possessed person. He fights the devil by penetrating into his host’s subconscious which realizes that his dreaming. Dr Ember meets Cameron, and confirms he is possessed by Maggie, who recognizes him. One day because of this demon, Ember loose his wife and child and now he’s in a wheelchair.
Ember ne pratique pas d’exorcisme mais part dans le monde des rêves de la personne possédée. Il combat le démon en pénétrant dans l’inconscient de l’hôte qui réalise qu’il rêve. Dr Ember rencontre Cameron, et confirme la possession par Maggie, qui le reconnait et à qui il doit la perte de sa famille et le fait d’être en fauteuil roulant.
